Hike Ellsworth

To showcase the plethora of outdoor activities available within Ellsworth city limits, we have teamed up with new-to-Ellsworth residents and local vloggers, Wayne and Jemily Ayers-Creech of Back to the Basix to highlight seven Ellsworth-centric hikes. Over the summer and into the fall the Ayers-Creech duo explored hiking trails profiled on our HIKE page. Now that we have our trails back Wayne and Jemily are encouraging folks to get out and explore their newly adopted home. This video series is sponsored by Desert Harvest. Additional project partners: Maine Trail Finder and Look Out for ME.

New videos will be dropping a few times a week - watch social media for new releases!

Heart of Ellsworth BOD News!

Welcome back to the BOD, Beth Fendl! Beth currently lives and works in downtown Ellsworth. In 1992, she and her sister opened The Riverside Cafe on the corner of Main and State Street. After selling the business in 2006 and taking some time at home with her growing family, Beth became the general manager of Finn's Irish Pub in 2011. As president of the Downtown Merchants Association Beth ushered the organization from a 501c6 organization to become Heart of Ellsworth - a 501c3 in July of 2017. Today, as past president, Beth works tirelessly highlighting our historic downtown, beautiful waterfront, and culturally rich Main Street. With the goal of making downtown Ellsworth a vibrant and authentic Main Street destination, Beth looks forward to the future of Heart of Ellsworth.

A hearty welcome to new BOD member, Eric Columber! Eric moved to Hancock County in 2007 and has practiced law in downtown Ellsworth ever since.  In  2017 he established his own firm, Columber Law (columberlaw.com), just off Main Street, to continue serving this area. He has volunteered for several local organizations including the Downeast YMCA and Ellsworth Community Music Institute, and also served as the Maine State Bar Association President in 2019. "Ellsworth has been the place I’ve chosen to practice for the lion's share of my legal career. I believe in Ellsworth’s vibrant downtown, not only for its economic importance but its social and artistic potential as well.  I would love to see even more art and music in Ellsworth! I've watched Heart of Ellsworth help expand business growth and promote its cultural and social missions and am proud to volunteer and bring my voice to this spirited organization." When not practicing law, Eric enjoys time with his wife, two children, and whoodle (Hopscotch), playing guitar, and attempting to become a better fly fisher on our local waters.

Congrats to Heart of Ellsworth Board member + Ellsworth resident, Eric Marichal who was recently elected to serve on the City of Ellsworth Recreation Commission.
Promoting recreation activities within the City of Ellsworth, the Recreation Commission sponsors activities and collaborates with area groups and organizations to encourage recreational activities within the community and at city-owned recreational facilities.
