To get Ellsworth in the spirit of the holiday season, we are encouraging folks to shop local. Heart of Ellsworth has created a Shop Downtown Giveaway for the 2021 season andare partnering with businesses to promote the downtown we all know and LOVE!
The giveaway will work like this: Heart of Ellsworth assembles 25 downtown gift bags with fun giveaways. We partner with 25 downtown businesses by purchasing $25 gift certificates from each of the participating businesses and they will each host a gift bag. (The gift certificate will be placed inside the gift bag!) Throughout the month of December, Heart of Ellsworth will promote the participating business via a social media post highlighting the importance of shopping local, and encouraging our followers to share what they love about downtown Ellsworth via comments. After 48 hours, we’ll draw a winner of the gift bag from those who liked the post and commented. All the winner has to do is visit the hosting shop, pick up the bag and support downtown by shopping locally!

From parades to sparkling lights, sales to performances, downtown Ellsworth is the place to be this holiday season! The Heart of Ellsworth Design Committee made the decision to expand our Main Street Lights program to include the Union River bridge. We worked with Wallace Events to light up downtown. Downtown is vibrant this holiday season and we invite you to join us!

DOWNTOWN OUTDOOR MURAL UPDATE
Artist Judy Taylor has been chosen to paint the downtown Ellsworth outdoor mural! Maine artist Taylor was selected from a large pool (17) proposals submitted through our recent Request for Qualifications process, held earlier this fall. Judy operates a studio and gallery in Seal Cove and, in addition to the extensive work she’s known for in galleries and installations across Maine and the East Coast, she has a well-known mural that hangs in the Maine State Museum — the “Maine Labor Mural.” Along with the Heart of Ellsworth Mural Committee, Judy will work with community groups and volunteers to research potential subjects. She will create renderings of 2-3 options, which will be put out for community input. The selection committee will select the final design. She will also work with the Heart of Ellsworth staff and committee to plan spring activities, student involvement and the mural actualization process. She has substantial experience mentoring and teaching high school students and has successfully organized teams of students and community members to be part of her past mural projects.Expansion Arts Grant received from Maine Community Foundation in November.
