Bangor Federal Credit Union Raises Over $31,000 to Combat Food Insecurity
Each year, nearly all of Maine's credit unions participate in the Maine Credit Union Leagues' Campaign for Ending Hunger, a charitable program fighting food insecurity in our communities. Since 1990, Maine's credit unions have raised and distributed more than $14.9 million for ending hunger in Maine. In 2024 alone, Maine credit unions came together to raise $1,303,706.40 to combat hunger, $31,250.45 of which was from Bangor Federal, its employees, and amazing members.
The Design Committee enhances the physical and visual assets of downtown. Some of the committee initiatives for this year include organizing an outdoor spring cleanup, holding community discussions about the future of Franklin St. Parklet, and installing, planting and maintaining flower boxes, trees, and rain barrels. Beautify Downtown Ellsworth by being active on this committee!

Welcome Michael Otzwirk as the City's New Community Tree Steward
Working alongside the Arbor Commission, Michael will contribute to the city’s urban forestry efforts through research, tree planting, and maintaining the city’s tree inventory. Additionally, he will engage the community through education and outreach, playing a key role in improving and preserving Ellsworth’s green spaces.
Community Tree Steward is part of the Maine Conservation Corps program, designed to accomplish initiatives inspiring people and enhancing communities. Michael’s position is fully funded by AmeriCorps and was selected by the Arbor Commission who arranged the Community Tree Steward opportunity.

Now in its eighth year, Provender Kitchen + Bar is an established business on Main Street in downtown Ellsworth. Owned by Chef Daron Goldstein and his wife Joy Kempf, the restaurant is a go-to for meals and cocktails drawing residents and new visitors alike.
