Calling All Volunteers!

The flowers are up on Main Street, thanks to a partnership with Simons Hancock Farms and Heart of Ellsworth. Todd and his crew started the plants in their greenhouses back in March. We are looking for a few volunteers with a green thumb to help. We ask for a one-week committment to water the Union River bridge planters and keep our Downtown in bloom!

Please contact Beth Fendl at (207)812-5221 or click here to visit our volunteer sign-up page.
Rent the J & B Atlantic Building!

This project is a partnership between building owners Bill Sanborn + John Hutchins, Heart of Ellsworth and made possible by a generous grant from The Maine Community Foundation's Downeast Innovation Fund.

Meet the Heart of Ellsworth Board of Directors!
Vice President, Jessica Sprague

Jessica Sprague has served on the Heart of Ellsworth board for two years and is the newly elected Vice President. Jessica served on the MDI YMCA Board of Directors for 3 years, and is a passionate CrossFit Breakwater athlete. She also spends her winters on pool decks throughout the State volunteering as an official for YMCA Swimming. She was raised in Bar Harbor and attended Mount Desert Island High School and University of Maine, where she was a scholarship athlete, swimming for the Black Bears for 4 years. She graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education. She moved to Ellsworth in 2014 and works for Hewes and Company. She brings her broad work experiences as Human Resources manager and a deep passion for the Ellsworth community to our Board.

In her own words, "Being from Bar Harbor, I am used to a small community where everyone knows you and everyone is involved. Moving to Ellsworth, I saw myself wondering how I could be of help to the community and get to know my new town. I wasn’t used to being a stranger and living where I didn't have any strong connections. I was approached to be a part of Heart of Ellsworth, and I didn't think twice. The mission and goals of this organization are something I can get behind and support 100 percent. Seeing Ellsworth thrive, creating a better downtown and vibrant community, is why I am dedicated to this cause."

Why donate to the Heart of Ellsworth?

Heart of Ellsworth remains focused and committed to economic growth through projects in the urban core.

Our vision seeks to fill storefronts on Main Street, secure a location for the Winter Farmers Market, develop the Union River waterfront with green space along the river, and identify and assist in the creation of more downtown housing options. Collectively, these enhance opportunities for both visitors and community members to enjoy all that Ellsworth has to offer.

Your contribution ensures that we can remain committed to these goals.
We appreciate your support!
