Meet the Heart of Ellsworth Board of Directors!
President, Phyllis Young

Phyllis Young has been on the Heart of Ellsworth board for four years and is our newly elected President. She was born in Bar Harbor just months before the Ellsworth hospital opened and was raised in Ellsworth.

Phyllis, now retired, brings her broad work experiences from Child and Family Opportunities, Acadia Senior College, Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce and Woodlawn to our Board. Young was also involved in the former Downtown Business Association. When asked, she still says that her greatest work (with her husband, Reg) was the raising of her two girls here in Ellsworth.

In her own words, “Having held a variety of work positions that allowed me to interact and have an impact in our community, I knew it was important in my retirement to stay connected. Volunteering my time to an organization that has the best interest of Ellsworth and its downtown as its mission is a perfect fit. Heart of Ellsworth’s work is focused on the economic development and beautification of the City’s urban core. We work to better our waterfront and create quality of life events and experiences for residents and visitors. Our board members and executive director are dedicated, fun to work with and have “can do” spirit and energy.”

Why donate to the Heart of Ellsworth?

Heart of Ellsworth remains focused and committed to economic growth through projects in the urban core.

Our vision seeks to fill storefronts on Main Street, secure a location for the Winter Farmers Market, develop the Union River waterfront with green space along the river, and identify and assist in the creation of more downtown housing options. Collectively, these enhance opportunities for both visitors and community members to enjoy all that Ellsworth has to offer.

Your contribution ensures that we can remain committed to these goals.
We appreciate your support!
