In Drew's words -  "I am looking forward to working with the board of directors of Heart of Ellsworth along with community volunteers. I will take this role very seriously as I am not only using my own voice but will be echoing the voices of students and young people of Ellsworth. I feel together we can reach many goals and create new opportunities and events for all to enjoy."

Ellsworth Historical Society Receives 20K Grant from
Maine Community Foundation

The Maine Community Foundation has awarded the Ellsworth Historical Society (EHS) $20,000 from the Belvedere Historic Preservation and Energy Efficiency 2022 Grant Program.

EHS will combine Belvedere funds with $200,000 awarded in April from the Maine Development Foundation’s Maine Downtown Center REvitalizeME Gen2 National Park Service Sub-grant Program. The goal with these and future grants is to preserve and restore the exterior of the historic Jail, located at 40 State St. The Old Jail is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its significance as a governmental building and structure with a dual purpose. The Old Jail has been a museum and home to the Ellsworth Historical Society since 1979, and it is situated at the core of Ellsworth’s historic district. Photo Credit: Lynne Bechard
